My community involvement began before I became a candidate. It grew through volunteering, education advocacy and practical projects with families, youth, faith communities, health care and service organizations.
Quick answer
What connects this work?
A belief that strong communities are built when people understand how to participate, receive practical support and see volunteers follow through on commitments.
Education and family support
Catholic School Council, SEAC and ABC Ontario work brought me close to parent questions about communication, IEPs, IPRCs, gifted education, classroom resources and student life. It also showed me that informed participation is easier when systems use plain language.
Youth civic engagement
As founding president of ACE Ontario, I helped connect public education with opportunities for young people to take part in civic life. Forums, safety education and community outreach taught me to organize respectful conversations around complicated issues.
Faith and children
Volunteering in Children’s Liturgy at Blessed Frédéric Ozanam Parish reinforced the importance of patient listening, age-appropriate explanations and creative participation. Children belong when adults make room for their questions.
Health care and practical service
During COVID-19, I supported Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation through fundraising outreach and community connections for PPE donations. Through the Toronto Cathay Lions Club, I also contributed to vision-care and family-support initiatives.
Recognition and responsibility
Community recognition is meaningful, but it does not replace the work. I see awards as encouragement to keep serving and to give credit to the partners and volunteers who make projects possible.
