I am grateful to support Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation and the health-care teams serving Markham and surrounding communities. My involvement has included donations, fundraising outreach and community connections for urgently needed personal protective equipment during COVID-19.
Quick answer
What contribution is documented?
An April 28, 2020 Foundation letter recognized my volunteer contributions, support for fundraising initiatives, outreach to community and business leaders and work connecting in-kind PPE supplies with the hospital.
Why local hospital support matters
Hospital foundations raise funds and awareness for equipment, technology and other priorities that public funding does not fully cover. Community support helps local care respond to a growing population.
Responding during the pandemic
Early in COVID-19, PPE needs were urgent. I used community and business relationships to help connect available in-kind support with the hospital. The experience showed that service is often about matching a real need with the people able to help.
A continuing community commitment
Health care, education and family support are different systems, but they share a need for trust, communication and practical coordination. I remain grateful to physicians, nurses, staff, volunteers, donors and partners who support local care.
