A first-100-days plan should state what will happen, when families will hear about it and how progress will be measured. It must also be honest about the trustee role and YCDSB’s current provincial supervision.
Quick answer
What can be delivered in the first 100 days?
A reliable listening and reporting system: public explanations of the role, meetings across Markham Area 2, monthly source-linked updates, a privacy-safe issue tracker and a 100-day report showing what was raised, answered or still unresolved.
Days 1–30: listen and map the work
- Publish a plain-language explanation of trustee responsibilities and provincial supervision.
- Meet Catholic School Councils, parents, students, educators, SEAC members and community partners across Wards 4, 5, 7 and 8.
- Group concerns by topic without publishing private case information.
- Review public budget, enrolment, achievement, support and governance information.
Days 31–60: establish a communication rhythm
- Publish the first monthly update with official links and follow-up dates.
- Create a topic-level issue tracker showing whether matters are open, referred, answered or awaiting information.
- Offer conversations in different parts of Area 2 and an online option where practical.
- Direct individual concerns to the appropriate school or board process.
Days 61–100: report and prioritize
- Publish meetings held, recurring themes, questions raised and answers received.
- Set a short list of evidence-based priorities within the governance role.
- State the next action for each priority and invite families to assess progress.
How provincial supervision changes the plan
YCDSB has been under supervision since March 5, 2026. While it continues, the Supervisor exercises most board powers, apart from denominational matters. I will not pretend otherwise. Listening, source-based communication and lawful advocacy still matter; full trustee decision-making depends on the governance status in force.
The communication promise
Updates will explain what happened, why it matters, what a trustee can and cannot do and what comes next. Individual concerns will use the secure website form, not a public email address or public discussion of confidential details.
