Before school starts, verify that York Region Public Health has your child’s current immunization record. A child may be fully vaccinated while the public-health file is still missing information.
Current opportunity: York Region is offering summer community clinics through July and August 2026 for eligible students aged 4–18. Routine childhood vaccines are free, and an Ontario health card is not required.

The five-minute parent check
- Gather the child’s yellow immunization card and any records from physicians, pharmacies, clinics or another country.
- Check the record held by York Region Public Health rather than assuming every vaccination has already been reported.
- Submit missing or newly administered doses through the official online reporting process.
- If doses may be overdue, contact a health-care provider or review York Region’s summer clinic availability.
- Save confirmation of anything you submit and keep the child’s personal copy up to date.
Vaccinated and recorded are not the same thing
York Region Public Health maintains the school immunization file. If a vaccine was given elsewhere, the public-health record may still need to be updated by the parent or guardian. A notice about missing information does not necessarily mean the child never received the vaccine.
How to update an immunization record
Use the reporting options linked from the York Region immunization page. Enter the vaccine name and the date administered as accurately as possible. Keep the original documentation; do not post a child’s health record publicly or send it through an unrelated online form.
If the record is incomplete or difficult to interpret, contact York Region Public Health or a qualified health-care provider. Families who recently moved to Canada should bring any translated or original records they have so a professional can determine what is documented and what may still be needed.
Summer 2026 community clinics
York Region’s summer clinics offer routine childhood vaccinations to eligible students aged 4–18. Appointments are available through July and August 2026. The Region asks families to submit the child’s record online through Immunization Connect Ontario before the appointment and bring available records, such as the yellow card, to the clinic.

What Grade 7 families should know
York Region’s school immunization program offers eligible Grade 7 students vaccines against Hepatitis B, Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and Meningococcal ACYW-135 at no cost. Planning for the 2026–27 school clinics is underway; York Region says Fall 2026 clinic dates and electronic-consent information will be released later, with consent details expected in September.
Do not rely on a sibling’s previous schedule or an old school notice. Read the 2026–27 information sent for your child, review the consent material and keep a copy of the completed record.
If you receive a suspension notice
A suspension notice generally means York Region Public Health does not have documentation showing that the legal requirements have been met or that a valid exemption is on file. Read the notice carefully and act before the stated deadline.
- If the child already received the vaccine, report the missing record using the official process.
- If documentation is missing, contact the provider that administered the vaccine.
- If the child may be overdue, speak with a health-care provider or York Region Public Health.
- If the family is seeking an exemption, follow the official legal process rather than simply declining a school form.

Does my doctor automatically send vaccine records to York Region?
Do not assume the public-health file is complete. Parents and guardians should verify the York Region record and report missing or newly administered vaccines through the official system.
What should I bring to a York Region summer clinic?
Bring available immunization records, including the yellow card. York Region also asks families attending for routine childhood vaccinations to submit the record online before the appointment.
Does my child need OHIP to attend the summer clinic?
York Region states that an Ontario health card is not required for vaccines offered through its 2026 summer community clinics.
Are all Grade 7 clinic dates already available?
